As we age, our teeth gets weaker, darker and stained, this is caused by drinks and food, such as coffee, wine and sodas. Smoking is another cause of staining. Home remedies are a great way to remove minor food and cigarette stains from your teeth. Sometimes all it takes is two weeks of home treatment to get a whiter and more youthful smile, but major staining on the teeth will require treatment from a dentist.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has been used for centuries as a disinfectant and natural cleaning product.

Apple cider vinegar has acetic acid, which is the main active ingredient. This effectively kills bacteria. The antibacterial property of vinegar is what makes it useful for cleaning your mouth and whitening your teeth. Acetic acid in vinegar has the potential to erode the enamel on your teeth. For this reason, you should not use apple cider vinegar every day.

Strawberries and Baking Soda

Strawberries contain malic acid, that can remove minor surface stains and
baking soda acts as an abrasive to scrub away stains. To whiten your teeth, mash one strawberry in a bowl. Dip your toothbrush in the mashed strawberry mixture and brush your teeth with it, rinse your toothbrush and mouth with water. Then dip your toothbrush in baking soda and brush your teeth again. Rinse your toothbrush and mouth with water once again. Repeat this routine once a day for two weeks.

Orange Peel

The orange peel contains citric acids that dissolve minor surface stains, with repeated use. Try rubbing the inside of an orange peel on your teeth before your normal brushing routine, this will gradually whiten your teeth. Don’t allowed the orange peel acid to remain for an extended length of time on your teeth, the acid could damage your tooth enamel.

Eating fruit and vegetables

Eating crunchy fruits and vegetables to manually remove surface stains can also help whiten your teeth. While you chew, the fibrous crunchy fruits and vegetables rub against your teeth and scrape off plaque and food debris. Use whole fruits and vegetables like apples or carrots that will benefit your front teeth when you bit into it.
