Early this week Sam Smith cancelled his first show in Cape Town after performing for 45 minutes due to vocal strain.
The singer- songwriter took the stage at Grand West Arena Cape Town full of energy performing “Dancing With A Stranger” as his opening song and a couple more songs, until, he abruptly exited the stage during “Baby You Drive Me Crazy” with his backup singers closing out the song.
A couple of minutes later the Arena’s lights were turned on giving the thousands of concertgoers the bad news that the show had been cancelled due to Smith suffering vocal strain.
Some fans even thought it was just a joke, Until they were asked leave.
His devoted fans took to social media to voiced their feelings about the situation and sent well wishes to Smith. Many also applauded him for performing a phenomenal 45 minutes.
It is still unclear if the “Lay Me Down” singer will be able to perform the rest of his Cape Town dates.
