Its been 2 years since Simmy’s debut album dropped and it is still one of those must-haves till this day when Tugela Fairy was released fans were applauding and thanking Simmy for introducing them to such great music. Simmy, who is known for working closely with award-winning artist, Sun El Musician, was overwhelmed by the great reception of her debut album from the country, this can be attributed to the quality of her soothing music on the album.
Even when she performs live, fans fall in love with her all over again because she gives it her all and engages with her audience. This is what Simmy had to say about her on-stage performances.
“People never know what to expect from me because they picture this cute, sweet girl and then I get on stage and it’s a mess! I hop on stage and it’s a big, beautiful mess. You can expect me to perform Umahlahlea, Ngiyasaba, Njalo and there’s a surprise as well, but I’m not going to say anything about them.“
When she was scheduled to perform at Trace Fest, in Disoufeng, Soweto. Simmy said she would be paying tribute to South African Kasi culture.
“Kasi Culture has had a lot of influence because every main South Africa genre in South Africa is influenced by eKasi you know? You just see even by what a person wears and it will always be a good vibe. Kasi music doesn’t get old, and it is always lit. And of course you can take a girl from eKasi but you can’t take the Kasi out of a girl!”
Clearly, moghel loves performing for her fans, you can just tell from the glow and excitement on her face. Now that lockdown is coming to an end and things are going back to normal, we can’t wait to see her live again.
